We’re recruiting for new Environment Action Volunteers

September 2, 2024

There are currently 45 Environment Action Volunteers (EAVs) spread across Leicestershire, but more are needed to support positive environmental action across the county which has a population of 700,000+ residents.

Environment Action Volunteers (EAVs) help to raise public awareness of a range of environmental issues. They encourage Leicestershire residents to make simple changes that have a positive impact, such as reducing waste , making space for nature and cutting back carbon emissions.

As well as influencing their friends, family and neighbours, EAVs can get involved with a wide range of activities to help engage a wider audience, such as;

An EAV stall at a public event showing some of our food waste prevention sorting games

  • running stalls at public events
  • visiting schools and community groups
  • providing talks, workshops, classes and webinars
  • producing content for web, social media and newsletters
  • supporting online campaigns
  • tackling invasive non-native species
  • recording ancient trees

If you are a Leicestershire resident aged 18+ with an interest in environmental issues and you have some time to give, we would love to hear from you. No prior knowledge or experience is necessary as full training is given.
