Welcome to Watch Your Waste Watch Your Waste – Cooking classes and courses
Cooking course / Class overview
The Watch Your Waste programme is now closed. However, you can access all the online resources and guide yourself through them at any time. You can also book yourself onto one of the cooking courses / classes featured on our What’s on page.
As you work through the Watch Your Waste programme we hope to be able to offer you and others in your household the opportunity to sign up to attend a cooking class focusing on food waste prevention. These might be held face-to-face at a community venue somewhere in Leicestershire, or held online, so you don’t need to leave home to take part. The aim of these classes and courses is to give you opportunity to practice some of the food waste prevention skills we advocate as part of the programme with the support of a tutor – so you’re able to ask questions.
We hope that if you attend one of these sessions, you’ll meet likeminded people who are also progressing through the Watch Your Waste programme. Class / course sizes vary according to the venue chosen and the number of people able to attend at any given date / time, but typically range from 6 to 12 people. Sometimes places are limited, so we’ll fill them on a first come, first served basis.
You’ll be asked if you are interested in receiving information about upcoming cooking classes and courses when you sign up to the Watch Your Waste programme, so if you are interested, please let us know then.
If you accept the invitation to attend a class / course then you’ll be given all the information you need by email in advance. The classes /courses are free, although for online sessions might ask you to buy some suggested ingredients so you can cook along with the group.
We will endeavour to run classes and courses according to demand and to meet that availability of those who wish to attend. We may alternatively suggest that you sign up to attend one of the free Zero-Waste Healthy cooking courses via GO Learn, or that you attend one of the cooking classes held at our six community kitchen venues where there may be a nominal fee. We’ll signpost these to you but you’ll also find details listed on our What’s On page.
