International repair day 2024 – 19th October

October 17, 2024

International Repair Day is an annual event organised by members of the Community repair network. It aims to raise awareness about the benefits of repairing rather than replacing broken or non-working items. It also emphasises the power of repair to bring communities together, to reduce our impact on the planet, and to learn new skills.

To mark the event, many community repair groups in and around Leicestershire are offering repair workshops where you can take portable items for repair / advice on repairs.

How does it work?

  • If you have a portable non-working or broken item, browse the list of groups (below) to find your nearest repair group and details of when and where their next repair event is taking place. There’s a map of groups linked at the bottom of the list.
  • Take your item to the repair event to be inspected by your chosen repair group. They’ll assess the item and provide free advice on getting it fixed, repaired or otherwise working as it should. Many simple repairs can be made on the spot.
