Great Big Green Week 2024

June 7, 2024

The Great Big Green Week is the UK’s biggest ever celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature. Every year during this week, people unite to unleash a wave of support for action to protect the planet. Tens of thousands of people in every corner of the country celebrate everyday actions being taken to stand up for nature and fight climate change. This is celebrating all changes no matter how big or small, they all help!

In 2023, Great Big Green Week saw more than a quarter of a million people get involved. National organisations, institutions, businesses, and media outlets joined in, ultimately making people aware of the action needed on climate change.

This year, Great Big Green Week takes place between 8th and 16th June. We will be supporting this week by attending a series of events to talk to residents about initiatives from home composting, recycling, waste prevention and food waste reduction. Other teams from across the council will also be attending events including Net Zero, Environment and others all spreading messages on how to make positive changes to benefit the environment.

The importance of making changes to stop global warming is becoming more critical than ever, with scientists thinking we will reach an irreversible point within the next 5 years. So, if you would like to make changes but don’t know how, then we can give you some advice.

These are the places you can come and find us at over the week.
